What Is Afrocentric:
A cultural magazine that shows the futuristic beauty of the African diaspora and its connection to African culture. This independent magazine was brought about because people of African descent need to develop an appreciation for the achievements of traditional African civilisations.

This magazine was born out of love and admiration for African culture and tradition. However, with society’s mindset of only viewing African culture as backward and regressive, we need to change the narrative and articulate our history and system of values.

Overall, Afrocentric is a 215mm x 290mm monthly magazine that contains a hypnotic blend of traditional African culture with cyberpunk, science-fiction and space opera. The magazine includes genres of Afrofuturistic literature, films, fashion and music. The magazine’s primary goal is to offer an escape from real-world troubles and imagine the world of a futuristic African society.
What Is AfroFuturism?
Afrofuturism is a fluid ideology shaped by generations of artists, musicians, scholars, and activists who aim to reconstruct “Blackness” in the culture.

it is a cultural aesthetic that combines science-fiction, history and fantasy to explore the African-American experience and aims to connect those from the black diaspora with their forgotten African ancestry.

The reason for the slogan "Moving Forward" was because of the article Afrofuturism Has Always Looked Forward by Taylor Crumpton. The article discusses how an ideology can serve as a blueprint for cultural growth.

Our Goals
